red state alabama once elected democratic gov Don Siegelman (former lt gov, atty gen)and had a chance to nominate him again this year. But instead of getting nominated he got tried and convicted in fed court. US atty just happened to be the wife of major alabama GOP strategist and Rove associate. few weeks before election, most voters probably couldnt tell you the name of Dem nominee. It's Lucy Baxley. polls show her losing badly. Siegelman has started appeals procedures. He not only won election over and over again in Red state alabama, he is a Roman Catholic in a heavily Protestant state where religion counts with a lot of voters, and, he has a Jewish wife.
